Our commitment to investment in staff and training

Graduates

We are always looking for quality graduates undertaking building related degree courses who are looking for either a year out placement or permanent employment following completion of their course.

Each year PDR aim to recruit at least one graduate trainee for a role either site or technically based. If you would like to be considered for a placement, send us your full details and CV to info@pdrconstruction.co.uk.

Training

We are committed to providing ongoing training to our workforce, and we take our Health and Safety obligations on site very seriously.

Our staff are our biggest asset, and through a continual programme of investment, the returns are a highly incentivised workforce where staff turnover is uncommonly minimal.

The success of our business depends on the skills and capabilities of our people and we are committed to building high performing teams with a passion to succeed and can carry out their duties in a safe and secure manner. We take their career development very seriously and operate a culture of continuous improvement throughout our business. We want our employees to be engaged, have all the skills they need to do their job and we will provide all the support they need to develop. A number of local training providers are used to ensure that specialist training is available for those who require it.

Training will be periodically reviewed to ensure that all employees are aware of all current and upcoming regulations that affect the way they work. Training is on-going with operatives being sent on courses to ensure their skills remain current and certificates in date. Additional training is provided for operatives on site who require specific skills for tasks that they will be required to carry out on the project they have been allocated to.

Further Education

We have a number of both technical and site staff undertaking day release and block release courses to gain further qualifications, whilst at the same time having the financial security and receiving the invaluable experience of working for a busy construction company.

CITB

We are a member of the CITB, and fully utilise their courses and training programmes.

Degrees

We are committed to taking on degree students on a yearly basis, and we actively recruit at University Trade Fairs to canvas for that next person looking for the challenge of working for the locality’s largest contractor.

Office staff training/IT

We regularly take on office based apprentices and also actively encourage all office and admin staff to better themselves by attending relevant courses, and we provide day release for those wishing to obtain an appropriate NVQ qualification.

Health and safety

A good safety culture doesn’t just happen, you have to work at it. Here at PDR, we work closely with our employees to ensure we follow best practice throughout our business activities.

We make sure the financial resources are made available for best health and safety practices, and all site managers are required to attend the “Site Management Safety Training Scheme” operated by the CITB.

All subcontractor appointments and repeat orders are subject to pre order/pre qualification questionnaires and continuous performance criteria used in accordance with all current legislation.
