Sittingbourne Regeneration

PDR Construction Ltd currently have work well underway on a brand new leisure quarter in Sittingbourne.

Work began on the multi-million-pound town centre regeneration at the end of November and is set to be completed by its target date of December 2019, with an estimated opening date of early 2020.

The development will bring an eight-screen light cinema, a 63 bed Travelodge hotel and a selection of big name restaurants, such as Nando’s and Pizza Express to Sittingbourne.

Once complete, the £57 million scheme is set to bring 400,000 visitors, generating £330 million for the area over the next ten years.

The development will not only benefit the local community in terms of footfall and revenue, but also in terms of employment.

There has been a particular emphasis on employing local workers from the surrounding area to be a part of the workforce. This has well received by all, including Frank Marney who was offered the chance of employment after losing his job, and has worked on the site since.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Darren Chapman, senior contracts manager for PDR Construction, said ‘It’s a major plus for the local community, they’ve got a nice new cinema coming, lots of eateries and a new hotel, so we see it fitting in very well with The Forum and the local community.’

Mr Chapman said the firm was proud to be delivering such a scheme for the town and its people.

‘They’ve got a major flagship scheme here, in a flagship position – dead opposite the station, in the middle of the town – and what a great opportunity!’
